Didn’t know Jen was so good at karaoke or that she could sing a mean “Proud Mary”…Didn’t know Matt and his family were such serious West Virginia fans that “Almost Heaven” would close the wedding almost as an anthem. Didn’t know they liked traveling so much that they would jet off halfway around the world to French Polynesia, yes Bora Bora, for their honeymoon. What I DO know is that their wedding day was wonderful and filled with special moments. From their rehearsal dinner onboard The Patriot to their reception setting along the Miles River at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, it was completely obvious how much care and thought had gone into their wedding day. How much their family and friends enrich their lives! What an experience it was for me, someone who witnesses so many weddings, to see the love and support they have from all who were there.

Roxanne and Todd are my friends as well as work colleagues as they’re two of the owners of Seasonal Flowers– a wedding florist shop that I LOVE to work with! Since we have this comfort level and familiarity with each other, there’s no other way to say how I felt to be asked to photograph their wedding but THRILLED and HONORED to be sharing this fabulous experience with them!

And so, as Roxanne counted down the days, so did I. As she got more and more excited about some new detail, some new idea, so did I. And when she put on her gown to become Todd’s bride and got a little teary, so did I. I knew what she and Todd and those closest to them had put into this day. And, I knew that it was going to be great!

And, guess what? I was! The Oaks, always a lovely venue, was a perfect place for their marriage. From custom-made games, to wreathed ceremony “doors” to the pretty garland that outlined the bridge handrails, nothing was left undone. And what fun for Todd- his favorite made-from-scratch donuts from Bay Country Bakery stood in for a wedding cake! I love how couples make even this detail their own!

As heartfelt toasts were made, as the scrumptious dinner was served, I watched Roxanne and Todd enjoy every moment.

And I’m wondering if that’s not the point- to savor the sweetest things life has to offer. For this couple, who live AND work together, there sure are going to be a lot of great opportunities!!

Judy and Courtney knew they’d found “the one” on their first date. And, that’s a good thing in more ways than one considering that that date included a sushi bill of $400, a consequence of “over-ordering”. I like to think they got so deep into talking to each other that they lost track of the “California Rolls”!! In any case, that one night led eventually to their wonderful wedding day.

It’s a good sign when you can’t decide between pictures, right? That’s how I felt choosing photos for this post. I liked so many and maybe at least some of that is because I loved working with Judy and Courtney ! They are a great couple- I know that’s said about a lot of couples but THEY REALLY ARE! Every minute, from the engagement shoot at the Maritime Museum to their wedding day was fun, sweet and serene. And when it rained on their wedding day- they just went with it! I don’t think anyone minded the sprinkles and it certainly didn’t dampen their excitement or their celebration.

Thanks for letting me share this special day with you guys. I was honored to be even a small part of your wedding experience.
