{ Melissa + Kyle • 10/25/14 • The Tidewater Inn • Eastern Shore Wedding }

I have been lucky, lucky this year to do several weddings for people whom I know personally. That is an added treat- having known the bride or groom way before they fell in love and became a married lady or gentleman!! I guess what I mean is that it gives me a depth of familiarity to work from that I hope tells their story in a super meaningful manner. This was true with Melissa. It was so special to be a part of this wonderful time in her life, and, of course, her family’s, too. And meeting Kyle was great- his love for Melissa shines through every moment. I loved knowing that they met at The Tidewater Inn which was a big reason why they selected it as their wedding venue- many fun memories and a beautiful setting.

I have been so excited to show them this little peek inside their wedding photos and hope they will get a great idea of what’s to come when they see everything! Seeing the photos helps me relive all the special moments from October 25th- Melissa’s lovely dress, the smiles from her mom Lise and sister Allison as they all got into their wedding finery. Sweet moments with Melissa and her veil in the bridal suite, her Dad John’s socks with their heartfelt message. A ceremony in the Gold Room Garden Room with its fall-inspired decorations, a lovely roaring fireplace and brilliant aisle-lining lanterns. The tears and the looks Melissa and Kyle gave each other as they said their vows. Rock, paper, scissors to see who went first!

As the day moved along, and the reception featuring great variety food and a full dance floor was in full swing, they and their guests celebrated into the night. I did get Melissa and Kyle outside for a few “town” shots that I hope they’ll love. Oh and can’t finish without mentioning the fun nod to Halloween- masks and silly glasses and wax teeth were handed out later in the evening and really had the guests hamming it up!

Sheree and John’s wedding at The Oaks Waterfront Inn was special. The season is winding down and October weddings, for many reasons, are favorites of mine. The days are starting to get shorter and the light is changing as are the leaves. It seems that this seasonal transition is reflected in such a “real” way when couples transition into being “married”. And so here are Sheree and John, in love and excited for their family and friends to be a part of this most special of days. Their ceremony was a duality of traditions which I always enjoy. And, I love the Ketubah signing which was made an adventure since they weren’t seeing each other before the wedding. This made for some laughs as Sheree sat behind a door in the bridal cottage so that she was shielded from John’s view. They still managed to connect as you’ll see! This connection carried on outside as I photographed them holding hands around a corner of the Inn as their wedding party looked on with glee. It was such an honor to work with Sheree and John, to be a small part of their day, to look over the faces with huge smiles as they danced together the first time as husband and wife, to hear the heartfelt toasts. Best of luck to you, Sheree and John in your life together!

Emily and Jake’s wedding was like an upscale garden party. First of all, it was held at his family home here on the Shore, a place that is very special to them. They wanted their wedding to be intimate, colorful, celebratory and beautiful. In my opinion, they got their wish! It was a lovely late September day, warm and bright. For a couple who met in DC but live in San Francisco, traveling to Easton was really not a big deal as they enjoy changing backgrounds!! What stood out? Emily’s gorgeous wedding gown which, to me, was absolutely perfect for her, the heartfelt vows they exchanged, the way Jake looked at Emily, a look I hope I caught on “film”, and the funny toasts by their family and closest friends that had everyone laughing and cheering. The evening was capped off with dancing, singing and two kinds of cobbler, a nod toward yummy comfort food they enjoy. It seemed that for a couple who finds it so natural to be together, their wedding day reflected their easy-going, yet sophisticated style. I loved working with them and being a part of this wonderful day in their lives.
