Sarah & Brent {6.13.09}

Sarah and Brent got married Scientifically – well, not really, but they got married in a unique place in Southern Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay called “Scientist’s Cliffs”. This community was founded in 1935 by Flippo and Annie Gravitt. That year, while hosting a picnic with colleagues, who were mostly scientists, they realized a desire to create a beautiful retreat on the 238 acres along the bay and development began soon after. Today the community is private and available only to homeowners, and their guests and renters. Housing appears to be mostly log cabins tucked into the natural landscape on the rolling hills and cliffs above the Chesapeake. Sarah’s parents are lucky enough to have one of most appealing and lovely log homes, and it was next to this that Sarah and Brent had their ceremony. We couldn’t believe the tall poplar trees and lush landscape as well as the unbelievable view of the Bay from this one-of-a-kind perch! Rain came down on the guests and wedding party but Josh, Brent’s best man, dutifully held an umbrella above the couple and all went along without a pause. After the ceremony, Sarah and Brent were treated to a lovely rainbow and even a bald eagle flyover! We took the wedding party for some fun shots on the beach and then it was on to Chestnut Lodge for their celebration. Food was abundant and everyone loved dancing well into the night. Brent’s mom, Kathy, served a variety of her homemade cookies which were quickly stuffed into bags for late night snacks. I loved watching Brent look at Sarah all though the festivities. Such a happy groom!

Natalie & Tobias {05.30.09}

Natalie and Toby had the perfect wedding. Perfect weather, perfect timeline, perfect look. After getting ready at the historic Tidewater Inn, they hopped in my car for the ride to Oxford to do some private shots of themselves and await the arrival of their wedding party, which was coming along by bus later for more fun and casual pictures at picturesque town’s Strand. It was so fun working with them and they were game for just about anything I suggested. The light breeze blew Natalie’s veil and we caught that, sometime with a little help from a beach-goer pressed into being my assistant. When the wedding party arrived, everyone was happy to do some casual group shots walking along the Strand, celebrating with Natalie and Toby. Then it was on to the Talbot Country Club for their wedding ceremony and reception. Natalie thought of wonderful details for her wedding. From her unusual and fun Fortune Tellers (made by an artist at Etsy) used as place cards, to her saltwater taffy favors tucked inside cute pastel pink, yellow and green boxes, everything looked fabulous! One fun note, Toby’s best man, Brent, is the groom at my next wedding after this one. You can see Brent and Sarah sharing a private moment in a black and white shot included here! One gift Natalie and Toby gave themselves was the pre-wedding timeline which afforded them the TIME to really have fun with their bridal portraits and to experiment with different backgrounds and styles. That bit of planning was fabulous for me as a photographer since there was no rushing and all the bridal party shots were completed prior to the wedding, leaving only family shots for post-ceremony. So, Natalie and Toby were able to visit and relax during their cocktails, hardly missing a thing!

Liu-Serino Family Portraits!

What a beautiful day for a family portrait! We met at The Strand in Oxford, always a personal favorite for a great setting. After all, what is more fun for kids than wiggling toes in the sand and throwing shells into the Tred Avon River?! Sharon is such a dear and has been a wonderful friend and client of mine for a long time. She brought her whole family out for the session and we had a ball shooting in the late day sun. Sweet moments make the best memories.
