Carly and Daniel have been together since her 21st birthday party when her best friend, Gabrielle, invited him to come. The funny thing to me about this party is that in a way, that day brought not only Carly and Daniel together, but also her brother Kenny and his wife Michelle. I shot Kenny and Michelle’s wedding last fall which was also where I met Carly. Serendipity? I think so. Four years later, he proposed to her on her 25th birthday. So birthdays and parties have a special significance to them. In any case, Carly’s “shabby chic” wedding had us leaving the Eastern Shore for Southern Maryland. I had never been to Flora Corner Farm. Just as I expected, Carly, who I already knew to be creative and “arty”, had picked a unique and special location for her wedding. The farm is set in a lovely spot and we were lucky that the adjacent sunflower fields were in bloom! She and her mom had thought of so many wonderful, personal touches- I loved the Polaroid seating photos, the cake display, the whole look of the wedding. It’s great working with someone who’s so sure of their style! And, there is a sweet love that is so evident between these two people that in a way this setting only enhanced. I was so happy to have been with them on their special day.
